One Less Ground Squirrel in the World

It’s true - I am a murderer.  After being fed up with the growing 13-striped ground squirrel population in my yard today, I had to kill one.  It wasn’t fun, and I would have preferred not to do it… but it had to be done.  I’m not going to go into details, but let’s just say he didn’t pass away in his sleep.

 They’re burrowing everywhere, and are out of control.  There’s even a chance that even more than one died today, due to my massive flooding of their underground lair.  I swear, I ran the hose for about 20 minutes right down their hole (under my concrete porch, and the water never overflowed out the entrance hole.

So yes, it is sad… but at least there was a burial service.

I could have put him on a spike and let him to be warning to all ground squirrels that although they are cute, they are not welcome.  I, however, did not.
