The Pigxie is an Affront to Nature

Posted by Bill under General News, Videogames

So yesterday we finally cross-bred a Swanana and a Rashberry to create a Pigxie.  There’s a reason that cross-species breeding is frowned upon, and the Pigxie is ample proof of this.  What a horrid creature!  I feel sad for it, while at the same time disgusted.  A retarded flying pig with wings is not something that we should be creating.

Perhaps this is Rare’s social commentary on how man should be careful with genetic cross-breeding.  Either way, I am frightened to get them to mate… I am not sure I want to see the romance dance.  In fact, I found it quite interesting that they do not show the Romance dance between the Swanana and the Rashberry, probably because it is a disgusting sight.

I am looking forward to feeding this bastardization of nature to a Sour Mallowolf.  Some good will come of my playing God, I swear it.

Wii Update / Game Collection Additions

Posted by Bill under Videogames

So my Wii wasn’t broken, it was the controller.  Nintendo replaced it and all is well.  This happened quite a while ago, so for those of you who have been waiting on the edge of your seat to find out what the conclusion was, I apologize for waiting so long to tell you.

Speaking of the Wii, we picked up Wario Ware Smooth Moves yesterday.  It’s pretty fun, about as much fun as the other Wario Ware games, although I was hoping it would have been more of a “party” game like the Game Cube one was.  Oh well.

The biggest disappointment is the lack of 16:9 display.  I’m getting really sick of spending $50 for a game and they can’t even support widescreen.  Wario and Rayman are both fun little games, but the stretching of the display is a little bothersome, and I don’t really feel like changing the aspect ratio every time I play.  I wish they’d slap some black bars on 4:3 games when displayed on 16:9 TVs at least so that things looked as they should.  Same thing with the virtual console games.  Gradius is hard enough as is; stretching it doesn’t make it any easier.

I also picked up Elite Beat Agents for the DS.  I’ve been wanting it for quite a while, but never felt like spending the money.  Finally I decided to use my Best Buy gift card towards it, and am quite happy.  I never really get totally into rhythm games, but this one is a blast. The storyline is ridiculous, which is great.  I love the fact that I can direct three special agents to dance to help them save the day so that the 17 year old babysitter and the football player can fall in love.

My game collection is growing quite a bit in the retro-arena as well.  If you go to that link a few posts below you’ll see I’ve added some Saturn and Virtual Boy games lately… thank you eBay.  I’m going to try to rearrange everything downstairs in our Game/Movie/Rec Room area so that I can hook up as many game systems as possible.  I’m going to try to get them all together.

In case I didn’t tell you, here’s the list of all the systems I have now:

Atari 400
Atari 2600
Atari 5200
Intellivision
Nintendo Entertainment System
Sega Master System
Super Nintendo
Sega Genesis
Sega Saturn
Sega Dreamcast
Nintendo Gamecube
Xbox
Playstation 2
Xbox 360
Wii
(I never should have sold my Nintendo 64)

And portable systems:
Game Boy Advance
Nintendo DS
Nintendo Virtual Boy
(I never should have sold that Game Boy for a buck).

Anyway, if anyone out there wants to get rid of any of their old systems, here are the ones I’m currently looking to add:

Turbografx
Sega CD
Sega 32x Adapter
Colecovision
Pong
Panasonic 3D0
Philips CD-I
