“... and if a person takes in so many secrets, where do they all go? If he’s heard about so many bad things that people have done, do their bad things start to manifest in him?”

The ‘Horizon’ Trilogy

Posted by Bill under book

This is just like me… or at least as much as I think I know myself, I am pretty sure this is just like me:

The Trouble With Being God has been done for only a few days now, and I’m ready to move on to my next project.  For quite some time I was pretty certain it would be the sequel to the book, which I’ve tentatively titled Dakota - but that’s very likely no longer the case.

Tonight I sat down to do some writing excercises, and I hit what I expected - a brick wall of writer’s block.

After sitting here and stewing, I got bored and wrote a poem about it… which turned into an idea… which turned in to my possible next project.

The Horizon Trilogy

Obviously right now I’m planning it all out… but the tentative name of book one is One Brick Down and To the Left.

I’m not saying anything else. other than that this is way more ambitious than The Trouble With Being God.

… okay I’ll say one more thing.  I’m really excited about it.

Partial Playlist from Project Playlist

Posted by Bill under Music, book

For those of you looking for the songs suggested in the book, I’ve put together a playlist on Project Playlist of all the songs I could find.  If I can dig up the rest somewhere, I’ll post it here on the blog.

Also, note that the version of “One By One” is live here… I prefer the studio version for the real playlist.

First Responses to The Trouble With Being God

Posted by Bill under book

Getting some responses from a few people who received advance copies of the new book.  Here’s what they had to say:

Good morning Bill!

So, i just finished the book! I loved it!! I’m still processing the ending but in a really good way. I really enjoy your style of writing and the philosophy you weaved through the story. and I’ve got to say, I think it would make an excellent film! I think that’s partly because its a great story, and also the way in which you told it- it made me feel like i was watching a movie unfold if that makes sense. (its early! I’ve been up since 5!) I think you’ve created something special. and I have a feeling your years of work are going to pay off. iI’ll tell everyone i know that they need to check it out. :)
kudos to you bill!

and…

Initial Thoughts: Excellent gripping story-telling. Easy to identify with characters. So far I’m loving this book…i got real situated last night and didn’t end up sleeping till 5…

I’m going to give it a full-blown review when I’m done with it.

Quotes and Synopsis

Posted by Bill under book

I’m working on putting together a synopsis of the book so I can use it on the cover, to promote it, for letters to editors, reviewers, etc… but it’s not as easy as it seems.  It’s a bit harder to try to sum the whole thing up in a few words or sentences.

So, if anyone out there who has been reading one of my advance copies has any suggestions, I am open to hearing them.  Quotes would be great too… but then again I don’t know anyone who really could get me a quote that people would know who they are.

No offense to any of you, of course.
