Day One Edits Complete

Edits continue, and after tonight’s session the edits for Day One of the book are complete. There is still one place where a little more development needs to be inserted, but since right now the focus is on cleaning up what’s already there, those insertions will wait.

Day Two will start soon - very likely tomorrow. If ambition sets in, it’s also likely that all edits will be done by this time next week. Obviously there’s no need to rush, but time will be much more abundant in the near future - and that’s really all that’s needed now.

47 Pages Down, 228 To Go

This weekend the big round of edits on the book continue - and tonight I made my way up through Chapter Seven. This leaves another 228 pages to go (although the epilogue is likely being cut completely, and the ending being expanded so as to make it more clear as to what happens).

So, the goal is to have a version of the book that I am happy with done by the end of this next weekend (a week and a half from now or so).

Nothing else much to share, other than that the changes are definitely improving the book. As many of you know, writing for this book started over eight years ago. Obviously I’ve changed since then - and part of that change is that I’m a better writer than I was when I started. A side effect of this is that the beginning of the book had a slightly different style from the end. This is something that should be remedied by the edits.

As far as the story content goes, not much is changing other than the addition of some key bits of character development that were left out in the first version being reinserted in this edition. Well, that and the whole clarification of the ending (including an improved “manifesto” - you’ll know what I mean when you read the book).

Big Round of Edits Under Way

Now that I’ve had what I consider to be ample time away from writing the book, I feel I am ready to begin what will hopefully be one of the final rounds of edits before I have what I consider to be an “official” version.

Thanks to feedback I’ve received from many of you, I have found a couple areas that are definitely in need of some reworking. But on top of this, I’m going through the entire book word by word and fixing everything that doesn’t sound perfect (to me). It’s going to take some time, but after reworking the first 15 or so pages tonight I am certain it will be well worth it.
